Intentionally Designed
Carefully Constructed
Using all of the latest research on typography and page design, Immerse: The Reading Bible is a Bible created with one goal in mind: to provide the best reading experience possible.
It restores the Bible’s text to its natural literary form: stories look like stories, songs look like songs, and poetry looks like poetry. Rather than traditional chapters and verses, each book is formatted based on the natural literary structures the authors incorporated when the books were first composed.
Immerse: The Reading Bible FAQ’s
Is this the whole Bible (New Testament, etc.)?
Yes, it is simply the text of the Holy Bible, New Living Translation with brief introductions to each book. Nothing has been added or eliminated from the Bible text. The only alterations have been to remove all of the modern additives of chapters, verses, notes, etc.
Can I use the Bible I already have?
More importantly, the format matters to the experience. Removing the chapter and verse numbers and restoring the natural breaks and literary formats changes how you read. Presenting the text in a more familiar format, like other books we are accustomed to reading, encourages reading books as whole books, letters as entire letters, and poetry as poetry. It is what the authors originally intended.
Is Immerse: The Reading Bible available in large print?
Immerse: Messiah is available in large print and you can find it here. The large print edition has been formatted so that the page numbers are the same as the regular edition, making it works seamlessly in the book club discussions.
All volumes are also available as an eBook, so you can download it to a reader and enlarge the font size to whatever is easiest for you to read.
Can I just listen to it and not buy a book?
Many people have found the custom Immerse audio edition to be a valuable part of their experience.
That said, it’s helpful to have the physical book for the weekly group discussions. Readers can mark passages that stood out to them or that they had questions about, and having a book makes it easier for a group to look at passage together.
Why the NLT? Is this available in other translations?
The NLT is regarded by many as the best reading translation available today. Immerse is not available in other translations.
Can I just read it by myself without being in a group?
Absolutely, and you will have a great experience reading an additive-free Bible.
However, community is a critical part of our spiritual growth, and it’s a vital part of the full Immerse experience. We are communal people, created by God to be in communion with Him and each other. That is why the books of the Bible were originally given to communities of people, and it’s how the church for most of its history has interacted with Scripture. So community really matters.
