Welcome to Immerse
Take the Struggle out of Bible Reading
Does Bible reading ever feel like a chore? Spending time in Scripture is vital for spiritual growth, yet many people struggle with confusion and boredom when they open the Bible.
Immerse removes many of the barriers which make Bible reading difficult, paving the way for deep connection with God and others through the Scriptures.

Step 1
Get To Know Immerse
- 6 volumes available in print, e-reader, large print, and audio
- Chapters, verses, and all other modern additives have been removed
- Beautiful single-column text displays the natural literary genres of each book
Is this the whole Bible (New Testament, etc.)?
Yes, it is simply the text of the Holy Bible, New Living Translation with brief introductions to each book. Nothing has been added or eliminated from the Bible text. The only alterations have been to remove all of the modern additives of chapters, verses, notes, etc.
Is this the real Bible?
Yes. Immerse contains the full text of the New Living Translation with brief introductions to each book. Nothing has been added or removed from the Bible text. Click here to look inside.
Why are the chapters and verses gone?
Chapters and verses were added late in the Bible’s history: chapters in the 13th century and verses in the 16th century. While they can be helpful for finding things in Scripture, they also chop up the text and make it harder to concentrate on the words themselves.
By removing them, the Bible text gets presented in a format that’s easier to read. Letters look more like letters, poetry looks like poetry, and stories read like stories.
What am I supposed to do with Immerse?
Read it! Modern Bibles are full of features which inadvertently distract us, making it hard to get absorbed in the Bible’s pages. With Immerse, you can curl up on the couch or stretch out at the park and simply read.

Why the NLT? Is this available in other translations?
The NLT is regarded by many as the best reading translation available today. Immerse is not available in other translations.
Can I use the Bible I already have?
Using a different Bible would make the experience difficult, since the reading plan uses page numbers to indicate each day’s reading. It will also be difficult to follow the text in discussion groups since people reference passages by page numbers and not chapter or verse.
More importantly, the format matters to the experience. Removing the chapter and verse numbers and restoring the natural breaks and literary formats changes how you read. Presenting the text in a more familiar format, like other books we are accustomed to reading, encourages reading books as whole books, letters as entire letters, and poetry as poetry. It is what the authors originally intended.
Step 2
Put Immerse Into Action
You’ll have a great experience using Immerse by yourself. But for an even richer experience, try reading with friends.
Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience is an invitation to a different kind of community interaction with the Bible. Less like a Bible study, more like a book club.
- 8 or 16-week reading plans take you through a large section of the Bible like the New Testament or the Torah
- Meet once a week for a free-flowing discussion about the text
- Wrestle with questions and celebrate ‘aha!’ moments together
4 Conversation Starters
- What stood out to you this week?
- Was there anything confusing or troubling?
- Did anything make you think differently about God?
- How might this change the way we live?

Free Immerse Resources
Immerse is intentionally uncomplicated. There are no DVD’s, workbooks, or study guides. Group leaders don’t have any prep work or teaching responsibility.
However, there are free resources available on this website to enhance your experience. Weekly videos, an audio edition, pastor and group host guides, and family guides are all available for you to use as you see fit. Click here to see the resources for Messiah.
Flexible Reading Plans
Immerse is designed to take you through a major portion of the Bible (like the entire New Testament) in 8 weeks by reading 25-30 minutes per day, 5 days a week. The alternative 16-week plan moves at a slower pace, allowing for more flexibility with busy schedules.
Step 3
Watch The Change Happen
Nothing impacts spiritual growth more than spending time in Scripture. Immerse removes many of the barriers that make Bible reading difficult and invites communities to become transformed together through the power of God’s word.
- Easily read through the entire Bible in 2-3 years
- Notice significant increases in Bible literacy and fluency
- Watch communities draw closer through deep, authentic conversations around Scripture
Why is the program length eight weeks?
Simply stated, Immerse is much more than just a Reading Bible. It is supported by a carefully thought-out reading plan, along with free additional resources (weekly videos, a custom audio edition, Family Guides, etc.) to enhance the experience.
It’s geared to give whole churches an intentional plan to read the entire Bible together and to establish a regular rhythm of Bible reading in the life of the church. The goal is to ignite a new passion for reading the Bible together in community in churches around the world. It is more than offering a product–it’s growing a movement.
It also uses the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, a clear and faithful rendering of God’s word in contemporary English.
What’s the big vision for Immerse?
Immerse isn’t meant to be a one-off program. Rather, it’s meant to provide an operating system for ongoing immersion in Scripture.
By reading and discussing two Immerse volumes per year, communities can read through the entire Bible in three years. Once they finish they’re invited to start again, forming a habit of regularly journeying through large swaths of Scripture together.
Is Immerse meant for churches?
Hundreds of churches have already used Immerse to read through the Bible as a whole congregation, but it’s also being used in schools, universities, prisons, sports teams, families, neighborhoods, and more. Immerse provides an easy, organic way for people in any context to read and discuss Scripture together.

Research Into Action
Launched in 2016, the Institute for Bible Reading is working to invite people into God’s transformative story by changing how they read the Bible.
In partnership with Tyndale House Publishers, they created Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience, their flagship resource for introducing their vision of better Bible engagement.
